The index display, accessed by clicking in the advanced search forms, enables you to browse the list of possible numbers, words or terms for a field and create the search strategy you require. You can activate your search directly from the index display.

Browsing the index:

• select a search field from the selection in the pull down menu
• type the first few numbers, or letters of the word or phrase you wish to find in the start index at box and click to jump to your search term
• or click on a number or letter in the list and you will automatically jump to the top of the batch of search terms starting with that character
• or use the first, previous, next or last icons to scroll through the list until you reach the required number, word or phrase.

Selecting a term/creating a search strategy:

• click the required word from the list and click search to directly start your search or click close to return to the search form
• create a search strategy by clicking the required words to paste them to the search terms box. Search terms are linked by default by the boolean operator OR which you can change to create your search strategy, e.g. data protection
• click the search icon to activate your search
• click close to return to the form where your search terms will appear in the selected field on the search form. You can then continue your search query and click the search button to start your search.
