The Search all opening screen gives direct access to all EU law materials. Updated
every 24 hours, OJ OnlinePlus is the most fully comprehensive source of EU law
materials providing much more than the core EU law database. Documents from
EUR-Lex and more than 20 EU Institutions and Agencies are gathered on a daily
basis, are cross-referenced and interlinked and brought together into this easy
single research tool. In OJ OnlinePlus pdf versions of Official Journals in
all languages are loaded on the day of publication with bibliographical information.
The full text in html, complete with cross-references and hypertext links is
added the following day.

- Use the quick links to access: the Courts' diary, Nicknames and Treaties
in pdf format.
- Advanced search contains a wide selection of changeable search fields
for expert searching across the whole database.
- OJ OnlinePlus is not case sensitive.
- Windows copy & paste functionality (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) can be used in
the search form.
- A search term can be any word, phrase or number which may be linked together
by Boolean operators, e.g. transport
and hazardous waste
- You can use wildcards to find variants of words or to substitute a single
letter, e.g. liab* or wom?n
- Dates must be entered in the format yyyy-mm-dd. You can use date
operators in Year and Dates search fields for date range searching,
e.g. >1999, 1990-04-30~1993-04-30
- Search fields are linked by default by the boolean operator AND. Use the
Advanced search form with its greater functionality for expert searching.
- You do NOT have to fill in every field on the form.
- To clear the search form in order to start a new search click the
button.
- When you have finished using OJ OnlinePlus remember to log off so that
your colleagues can access the database when you have completed your search.
If you do not correctly log off but exit by closing the browser your session
will remain active until the 30-minute automatic log off.
Search field examples
The search form provides useful search tips. Below are more extensive examples:
Free text
Any word or phrase in the title and text of a document. Legislation and case
numbers can also be searched in the same format as found in the Official Journal,
e.g.:
- 2002/82/EC
- protection of employees
- nuclear and waste
Words in title
Any words, phrase or number references, as published, in the title. This field
may provide a more accurate search than Free text, e.g.:
- food additives
- protection of employees
- dangerous not toxic
- health "and" safety - the retrieval
software interprets the words AND, OR, NOT, WITH or TO as search operators
and not as words. To search for a phrase containing one of these words you
must place the word in quotes
- 2002/82/EC
Document number
This field contains a wide range of document reference numbers, e.g.:
- 79/112 – for Directive 79/112/EEC
- 1042/75 – for Regulation No. 1042/75
- C-23/91 – for Case C-23/91(European Court of
Justice)
- T-199/99– for Case T-199/99 (Court of First Instance)

The full publication reference of a document with page number, e.g.:

Type
Classification of record types. This allows you to limit a search to a particular
type of document, e.g.:
- directive
- preparatory act
- judgment
- opinion
- merger decision
- press
Date / Year
In the form: e.g. yyyy-mm-dd . You can use
date
operators for date range searching, e.g.:
- 2002-10-31
- 1998-04-31~1999-04-31 – for records between the
two dates
- 2002 – for all records in 2002
